Pre-event workshop 1

The EuroVision of Implementation: An Introductory Workshop to Implementation

This interactive workshop will introduce participants to the main concepts of implementation. The EuroVision of Implementation is for researchers, practitioners, policy developers and others who want to get to know implementation and the science behind it. The workshops will cover implementation science terminology and definitions, an overview of frameworks, models, and theories, implementation support competencies, and much more. We will offer you a dynamic mix of brief presentations, interactive group work and facilitated discussions. After attending the EuroVision of Implementation, you will know enough about implementation terms, concepts, and tools to get the most out of your EIE2025 attendance.

w/ Katie Burke (IRE), Andy Bray (IRE), Dr Heather Rogers (ES) & Leah Bührmann (UK)

Pre-event workshop 2

Balancing rigor and pragmatism – An interactive debate on the promise and practice of process models in implementation science

Conducting implementation research or practice today is nearly impossible without drawing on theories, models, and frameworks. Among these, determinant frameworks like CFIR and TDF are the most widely used. In contrast, process models – which offer structured roadmaps to guide the implementation of evidence-based interventions in real-world settings – are applied less frequently.

In this session, we engage the audience in an interactive constructive debate about the value of process models relative to the effort in using them. Implementation scientists from the USA, Sweden and Denmark who have used one well-known process model, the Quality Implementation Framework (QIF) in health care, public health and social services, will present their experiences to initiate the debate. Subsequently, workshop participants will be invited to join the panel to present their perspectives and to extend their conversations. The goal is to extend the visibility of potentially valuable but under-utilized frameworks to implementation researchers and practitioners.

w/ Rohit Ramaswamy (US), Margit Neher (SE), Karin Guldbrandsson (SE), Kathrine Hald (DK), Julia Moore (CA), Per Nilsen (SE) & Abraham Wandersman (US)

Please note that the pre-event webinars will not be recorded.

Unconference Day: Saturday, June 7, 2025

Time (GMT)Newcastle and surrounding areas

Join us for a day of unconferencing!

We’re thrilled to announce an Unconference Day at EIE2025! Rather than following a traditional format with formal presentations, the day will be led by the interests and ideas of attendees. You’ll have the opportunity to propose topics, join dynamic discussions, and collaborate in a flexible, interactive environment. It’s a chance to engage with like-minded individuals, share ideas, and explore new perspectives. This is an informal way to continue the conversations that you started at EIE2025!

10:00

Unconference Swim at Cullercoats Bay

Kick off Unconference Day with a refreshing wild swim at the beautiful Cullercoats Bay—a favourite local spot on the North East coast, known for its sheltered waters and community spirit. This relaxed, informal swim is open to all EIE2025 attendees—no need to be an experienced swimmer. Just come along, dip in the sea, and start the day with a bit of adventure, connection, and coastal air.

Registration required.

12:30

Walk at The Seaside

Join us for a walk along the coast of Whitley Bay, Cullercoats, and Tynemouth! You can choose between two walking options: a longer, more challenging hike that takes you through a dene and scenic viewpoints, or a shorter, accessible route perfect for a leisurely walk with easy access to the beach. Both paths offer breathtaking coastal views, making this an unforgettable experience for all walkers.

Conference proceedings, including abstracts accepted in the formats Ride the Knowledge Wave, Walk the Talk, Science Slam, and P3, will be published in a separate Supplement to the journal Implementation Science. This has been made possible through the generous sponsorship of our event partner, ZonMw.
